Breeding Information Questionnaire
1. Do you offer
and discounts?
We do offer multiple mare discounts.
On some of our stallions, we even offer special
considerations to proven producers or proven show mares.
2. What kind of
care will my mare receive while at the farm?
At Gene Parker Farms, we take great pride
in our facility, our staff and our conception rates.
Your mare will be given the best of care while at our
farm. You can have your mare housed in the
mare motel, the show barn or our pastures.
In the mare motel, your mare receives daily turnout in
individual pens or small congenial groups.
In the show barn, your mare is in a heated barn and
groomed and exercised daily.
Our pastures are over seeded with winter
rye giving mares plenty of green grass to eat year
round. They are also given free choice
alfalfa hay and grained every other day. The
choice is yours.
3. What do you
charge for mare care?
In the mare motel, we charge $12.00 per
day for dry mares (no foals) and $14.00 per day for wet
mares (with foals). All mares with foals are
kept here. In the show barn, we charge
$16.00 per day and for pastures with shelters, we
charge $8.00 per day.
4. Do you foal
out mares and what do you charge?
Yes, we do. We charge $250.00
to foal out mares. This fee includes
foaling, navel treatment on your new foal, pain
management for your mare and 2 standard flushings on day
3-4 post foaling to prepare your mare to be re-bred.
Any subsequent flushes are at an additional fee
depending on antibiotics used.
5. Do all of your
stallions ship well?
Not all stallions ship equally well.
Semen quality differs from stallion to stallion.
Fortunately, we have all the current technologies,
centrifuges and many different types of extenders to
help each individual stallion's shipping potential.
We also use the services of
Dr. Paul Loomis, founder of Select
Breeders Services to help with semen evaluations and
advise us on stallions with cooling problems.
6. What days do
you collect your stallions?
We collect our stallions on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays. Our breeding season begins on
February 1st and ends on July 1st.
7. Do you offer
ship semen receiving too?
Yes. You can bring your mare
here to our farm and have her bred to a stallion other
than the ones that we stand. We do the
complete process for you....staging your mare, ordering
semen, the insemination and pregnancy checks.
8. What do you
charge for this service?
We charge $150.00 for shipped semen
receiving.
9. What happens
if my mare doesn't settle?
If your mare does not settle in 2006.
You can rebreed her for no additional costs other than
your shipping, in 2007. You may substitute
another mare for the rebreed if you choose.
Our goal is to make sure you end up with that special
foal!
